Students pointed something out during our lecturing on Cornish Tin this week. If you are supposed to give the last piece of your pasty to the knockers/fairies/sprites, and Cornish miners had hazardous chemical laced hands, then were fairies inadvertently (or not!?) the first victims of modern mining practices?
