I suppose the problem I described yesterday is ok, but… now that I’m using both Merlin (for id), and eBird to generate a species and count list for each birding event, it now uploads the “complete” bird list for an event (desirable) plus each bird for which I used Merlin to identify, as a separate “incidental” list with N=1 (not desirable).
How to stop this behavior???
Habitat interface question for eBird users:
I go for a walk along a road within meters of a major water body. There are water birds in the lake & shore rocks (gulls, ducks, etc) AND birds in the trees that line the road (songbirds & such).

In my densely peopled neighborhood northwest of Washington DC I was happy to hear so many birds calls on this cold spring morning. The Sound ID in the Merlin Bird app picked up the calls of: Song Sparrow, House Sparrow, Common Grackle, Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Northern Cardinal, and the American Robin. All within 15 seconds.
