Three months later, the 25 December 2023 Gold Coast storm damage still has not been fixed at the Coomera train station. This does not bode well for our ability to deal with more serious events in the future.

The state of active transport in #GoldCoast as seen at the #Coomera train station:
1. A$17m spent mostly on adding 500+ free car spaces ($34k per car) for a total of 1000+ just on state gov land.
2. The not functioning secure bike storage: 36 spaces for bikes, but 0 available, 13 people on a waiting list, and the shed is actually empty. Instead of a 3 month fob rental, the shed should open with an ID, credit card or phone?

This block of land near the river in the Gold Coast suburb of Coomera had trees and a new home less than a year ago. It's all gone now. For what? A motorway exit.

Public and active transport in #GoldCoast continues to be affected by the 2023 Christmas Day storm (driving is fine). My footpath is still blocked, and I have to walk on the road for a bit. The glass wall from a bus shelter is still on the ground, the #Coomera train station stairs still get blocked off when it rains. My train is 15 minutes later than usual till Thursday (may not be storm related), making the change from bus ~25 minutes. Even the ticket machine is failing today.
The Christmas Day 2023 storm affected also the public transport in Gold Coast. The Coomera train station roof is still leaking, two weeks after the event, making both staircases slippery. They are blocked off with tape and security guards. Passengers are told to use the lift.
It's been raining on and off most of the day today. My rooftop solar produced only 0.9 kWh - the lowest ever. The day earlier it was 37.4 kWh. My local public park has some paths flooded.
Someone requested and someone permitted putting a misleading sign on Foxwell Rd near the train station. If you want to walk to the train station or Westfield, the footpath is not obstructed. If you want to walk along Foxwell, there is a little concrete work on the footpath itself, but the grass verge around it is fine, better than at other places on Foxwell Rd that don't have footpaths. Except, there is a guard that will probably tell you to go back.
The environmental, social and economic disaster that is the duplication of the M1 motorway in #GoldCoast is progressing. In this section, the 6-lane bridge gobbles up the corridor that was reserved for the 3rd (express) track of the Gold Coast railway line. Afterwards, the #Coomera River here will have 5 bridges for cars (18 lanes) with two of them having shared paths for pedestrians and bikes, and two rail bridges (2 tracks).
