Ever since my kid bought me a bamboo steamer for Xmas, I've been reading tons of recipes & watching scads of videos. I just wanted to make some authentic shrimp or pork buns. I finally gathered the courage to make pork buns today. Or tried to. The filling was fine, & even though I usually make some pretty great bread, the wrappers I made can only be described as steamed semi-breadlike school paste — in taste and substance. Definitely not light & fluffy.
