I've not yet seen anyone notice that a potential RUKL-CUP election pact is now definitely a dead idea. RUKL would have gained at most 706 votes, possibly less as not every CUP voter can stomach RUKL.
What would RUKL get out of any such pact in this and other constituencies? It's simply absorbing CUP people and votes wholesale *anyway*.
#KemiBadenoch arguing that *someone else* is a political party leader who has no voter support and is only in place because there's no viable replacement leader; just a few weeks after turfing leadership competitor #RobertJenrick out of the CUP.
It's weirder even than you think when you observe that the CUP just went up from 5th to 4th place in this constituency, and yet lost their deposit.
On the subject of political party names:
The #Tories became the #Conservatives in the 1830s, taking their present official name — the #ConservativeAndUnionistParty — when they allied with Unionists later. ("tory" is technically an insult.)
Now that the Conservative politicians who used to be in power, and run things such as immigration, are merging with #ReformUKLtd in significant numbers, perhaps this marriage needs a name:

It's getting quite full of the people that outright did the things that #NigelFarage has postured as being against.
Also shame on the #ConservativeAndUnionistParty , the #TraditionalUnionistVoice, & the #DemocraticUnionistParty for voting "aye" on a Bill to remove us from the #ECHR!
But — alas! — this is expected opposition for opposition's sake rather than *any* expression in the slightest of principle or courage in the face of #NigelFarage — "Putin's patsy!" — calling for regression from modern statute law to old common law and literally using Whatboutism.
The commentators that aren't focussing on #ReformUKLtd's loss in the #Caerphilly #Senedd by-election are focussing on the LCP's diminution to third place, despite 11% not being that unusual for a 3rd place party.
I wonder how much of this is the national newspapers avoiding talking about the party that *actually* got wiped out at this by-election.
The #ConservativeAndUnionistParty used to be in 3rd place (9% to 17% across 2 decades). Today, it is a mere 193 votes above the LDs.
As for the CUP being nationalist, I'm not sure they even know *where* they stand on any given issue nowadays. The CUP took on the mantle of blatant political opportunists, liable to completely reverse their stance as long as it means getting/keeping power, back in 2016 and have not shrugged it off since.
They're liable to change policies and leaders at the drop of a hat, at this point.
According to Jacob Paul's second sentence, #KatieLam is a Home Office minister.

If #ReformUKLtd is indeed just the Conservative and Unionist Party 2.0, then it is the Tory party 3.0. The Tory party turned into the Conservatives, later the Conservatives and Unionists, in the early 19th century; and *that* was the Tory party 2.0.
