HR 9495 would allow Donald Trump’s Treasury Secretary the ability to strip any non-profit organization of its tax-exempt status by labeling them as “terrorist-affiliated.” This is the first step in enabling Trump to attack those who he perceives as political enemies, and it’s a dangerous threat to the social movements that have secured our rights. Don’t like Trump’s mass deportation policy? He’ll label you as a terrorist. Opposed to U.S. tax dollars supporting war crimes? He’ll label you as a terrorist. Don’t want Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” to cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid? Trump will label you as a terrorist. The first time this bill came up in the House, it failed because it needed a 2/3 majority vote to pass. With another vote expected this week that only needs a simple majority (over 50% of Representatives in support) to pass, we urgently need every Democrat to stand in opposition now. Add your name to demand U.S. Representatives vote against HR 9495, which would allow Donald Trump to target any non-profit organization that opposes his racist, inhumane agenda.
