Calypso Dance Party With Candido, Calypso & Girl by Candido, released on ABC Paramount in 1957.
Like many albums made by Latin players during the 50s, this is kind of a straight Latin effort in parts, dressed up in Calypso guise to try to get higher sales. Johnny Carisi directed the whole project – and it would have a nice Latin jazz sound, were it not for the occasional intrustion of guests like The Twintones and Claudia Swann, who must be the "girl" in the title! Candido still gets in some nice licks at the right moments, though – and the best tracks drop the calypso for most of the groove. Titles include "Talking Drums", "The Search", "Like My Heart", "Murder In The Market", and "Linstead Market". - Dusty Groove
