Liam O'Mara IV, PhDA joint US/UK/Belgian operation toppled the first elected leader of #CongoKinshasa/#DRC, then had him killed. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1961, #PatriceLumumba was brutally beaten to death. His body was then exhumed by Belgian troops, who hacked it to pieces and dissolved it in acid.
The Christian cult & rebel group #LordsResistanceArmy from #Uganda is likely the numerically most lethal #terrorist organization ever. On #ThisDayInHistory in 2008 it began its #ChristmasMassacres of civilians in #CongoKinshasa/#DRCongo, killing more than 600 & displacing 20,000.
On #ThisDayInHistory in 1960, #MobutuSeseSeko launched a coup with #CIA help against the first president of #CongoKinshasa, #PatriceLumumba. MSS brutally held power until 1997, and for much of that time #Congo was called #Zaire. Lumumba was later butchered & dissolved in acid.
