Earthworm 🐌I can't stress enough how important it is to close the nutrient cycle and utilize human excrements as fertilizers. We would save so much resources and energy while decreasing the environmental impact of our horribly expensive and inefficient sewage system and fertilizer production.
Yes, there are challenges when using human excrements (mainly pathogens and pharmaceutics), but the hazards are mostly much lower than people think, and solvable.

mk30I might be doing a presentation to my wastewater classmates about composting toilets. I have some ideas about what to present (including video clips), but if you have a compost toilet and have ideas for what might be good to share (or would even be willing to share a photo of your own setup), lmk!
A lot of info about composting toilets is geared towards expensive pre-made systems, but I'm all about the DIY: a bucket with a little cabin built around it... a toilet seat on top, with a separator for solids and liquids.
Also, if you use something other than sawdust for your cover material, lmk.
And, I'd love to know how long you let the poop compost before using, and whether you live in a cold or warm place.

So I went and ordered a urine seperator from Ebay for the composting toilet project. I plan to encase everything into plywood stained to match the fake wood accents in the van as well as a layer of cedar planking on the inside to help keep insects out.
Also want this to have a lid that can close and be a padded seat when not being used for waist processing.

Coach Spore DieselUrine diverter fail. I can't get it to not touch my butt, and I can't do any functions with something touching my butt. I guess I have a flabby butt.
However, I have stumbled upon a way to separate with two bags in one bucket, so we'll see how that goes.
