SoftBank has injected more than $450 million into British AI‑chip maker Graphcore, which it acquired in 2024, to fund the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI) and bolster SoftBank’s broader AI‑infrastructure strategy. According to a Companies House filing, Graphcore issued a single share valued at $457 million on April 10, confirming the financing came directly from SoftBank. The infusion is part of a “portion” of the capital Graphcore expects from SoftBank this year and follows SoftBank’s heavy AI spending, including stakes in OpenAI and involvement in the $500 billion Stargate project. SoftBank aims to expand its AI footprint further, planning a standalone AI and robotics company in the U.S. and exploring a large AI data‑center project in France, while Graphcore is also investing up to £1 billion to open a new AI campus in Bengaluru, India.

As a company director in the UK who needs to submit our accounts.. I now need to verify my identity to do anything tax related. (correction - need it to submit our confirmation statement due in August .. but not yet to submit any accounts) They want photo ID like passport or driving license but also to take a photo via app. Site claims you can input info without the app eg driving license details and link it to credit check to confirm identity - but that doesn't work which seems deliberate. Can confirm ID in person at post office but you have to get a letter which will take ages and they still take a photo and scan your ID. So all smacks of AI shite and #Palantir type data harvesting dodginess - any thoughts masto folks #IDVerification #UKGov #CompaniesHouse #HMRC #DataSecurity #AgeVerification #FaceRecognition

I was having trouble using the One Login app to verify my identity for Companies House, as my initial attempt resulted me in inadvertently exceeding the maximum attempts. 😰 I tried calling customer support for them to reset my account, but they said that wasn’t possible. 😟 However, I was curious to see if deleting my account and creating it again would solve the issue, and it did! 😌 #OneLogin #CompaniesHouse
