"The next disaster is coming. The question is: will your community be ready? Not because you have the right supplies, but because you have the right connections. Not because you have a plan, but because you have one another.

Start building that now. Before the next catastrophic fire day. Before the next flood warning. Before it’s too late.”
Zena Armstrong talks about community resilience in the time of climate breakdown

Is your community bushfire ready? In Cobargo after black summer we don’t just have a plan, we have one another

Fire preparation is more than clearing gutters and evacuation plans. It’s building solidarity in ordinary times so it’s there in extraordinary ones

Hello fediverse! I've been wanting to get out of fuckbook and all for a while, but wasn't vibing with bluesky format... Then I found this amazing space!
I haven't dragged my IRL friends in yet, but I'm excited to connect with new people here too!
I'll start off with a little about myself. I'm Tara (she/her).
I'm from Seattle but living in Athens, Greece for many years now. I spend a lot of time in the #communitypermaculturegarden we started here in a little corner of a park that had basically been a dumpster for years. Our "crew" is called Green Rainbow and we love to create together. We're family, friends and community members that come together to make, dream, connect and learn in a truly accepting space.
Making music (singing, writing, ukulele, bass) makes me happy. So does my dog.
I believe humanity can and must do better, beginning with ourselves. It's not enough to solve the worlds problems, but it's something. And something is so much more than nothing. And many little somethings can make something big happen.
It's Sunday morning, my partner just woke up and we're enjoying coffee and a lazy morning before heading to the garden for our weekly "work party" 🥳 so I'll continue this later...
Have a beautiful day!
If you're still here, I'd love to connect and find interesting people to follow! Especially talking about
#solarpunk #permaculture #communityresilience #communitygarden #climateaction #socialjustice #LGBTQ+ #inclusivecommunity fighting the system, and such...
Picture of my dog because he's adorable 🥰

In Takoma Park, Maryland, a small parking lot has become a stage for both resistance and community—where residents gather each morning in December to challenge immigration enforcement. Amid ICE cars and icy winds, they sing carols like “Away in a Manger,” turning a site of fear into one of hope, solidarity, and blessing. From singing and knitting to holiday drives, this quiet protest honors the spirit of humility and welcome—echoing Jesus’s humble birth into poverty and foreign lands. It’s a powerful reminder that even in hardship, community courage and compassion can flourish. Want to see this act of quiet resistance?
