This week Maggie Hensel-Brown, an Australian #NeedleLace artist, revealed the complete #CommunityLacemaking project final installation at a museum.

400 lacemakers from around the world sent her leaves, which she assembled. Here's a look at it.

She crafted the open hands at the bottom, then stitched and beaded between the contributed leaves--some are gorgeous and some are clearly wonky beginner ones--into a huge funnel shape rising from the hands.

#Lace is not dead.

I got to meet so many new people, sit with you all, stitch with you all, and read all of your beautiful letters that came with the leaves. ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‚ It really feels like each leaf has an imprint of each maker. So many new and experienced needle lacemakers. With mathematic precision, expressive wonky threads, all kinds of beautiful responses. All of the conversations shared over your samplers all woven into the piece. ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‚ Itโ€™s also just SO exciting to hear how many of you used the project to make your very first piece of needle lace, and are embarking on your own new projects. ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‚ Itโ€™s not a dying art, itโ€™s living and breathing and growing and changing. ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‚ Thank you all SO MUCH! New friends, old friends, family, everyone. It was an overwhelming and amazing experience bringing this piece into the world. ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‚ Itโ€™s up at @australiandesigncentre as a part of LACED, in Sydney until July 20th. More venues to come."

Today's inbound books are #NeedleLace books recommended to me during a recent work session for the #CommunityLacemaking project.

One of my favorite things about the #lace community is hearing about the best books that people really use and rely on. These were two that came up.

I put them in #Wikipedia on the Needlelace page as well.

I was watching a video about the #CommunityLacemaking project by Maggie Hensel-Brown, and the needle lacers offered a bunch of good texts about #needlelace stitches and styles.

After I quickly bought some used books... I added all of the ones I could find to the @wikipedia page.

And I absolutely love that 17th century unfinished project, so I added it to the page too.

There is a free work session / couvige on #NeedleLace offered by The Lace Museum on January 22.

Free but you have to register to get the link. Times are Pacific, btw. Just note that. People from all over can join, but just for calendar planning be sure you convert.

Oh, almost forgot #WIPWednesday. This time, more leaf!

Another leaf for the #CommunityLacemaking project. Still trying my first #NeedleLace pieces. And I always wanted to try this #Hedebo scallop from a 1920s Priscilla book. And so it goes.

Lace project takes all comers--try some! It's easier than I expected. And Maggie wants leaves in any state of completion or quality, she says.

Oh no. Now I'm obsessed with #NeedleLace. This was much easier and more fun than I expected. First practice leaf was underwhelming, but the second one was just flowing along.... She wants them in any condition, tho, so I'll send 'em both.

Now I want to make more leaves for the #CommunityLacemaking project.

Maggie Hensel Brown gave a dynamite talk for #IOLI yesterday about the development and goals of this.

Her videos were super clear.
