The Peace and Justice Choir is a #CommunityChoir that sings at protests, rallies, and public events in the #Sacramento CA region. We show up for our neighbors and sing out against injustice.

Directed by Jason Reese Block, founded by Lee Hoffman. Wednesday rehearsal at Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Sacramento. We perform a variety of music—from four-part harmony to classic protest songs.

The shared experience of singing reminds us of the power of collective hope and compassion.

What does safety sound like?

How can choir directors and community leaders create caring relationships that allow people to fully use their voices--both in making music and in protest?

Lee Hoffman is a professor of vocal music, choir director, and singer. In this episode we talk about voice and silence, decolonizing repertoire, safety, homophobia, genocide, high control religion, non-coercive teaching, and badass singing.
