De gemeente Sittard-Geleen is in gemeenteland koploper geworden in het gebruik van open source-software. Door zoveel mogelijk zelf ontwikkelde én gedeelde oplossingen te gebruiken, wil de gemeente minder afhankelijk worden van commerciële Amerikaanse leveranciers. ‘Digitale onafhankelijkheid is geen luxe, maar een randvoorwaarde voor een toekomstbestendige overheid’, aldus adviseur Patrick Duchateau en enterprise-architect Charlotte Schoonbrood.
