Once again figuring out how to definitely remove all references to comment functionality from #Wordpress with #ComicPress and #ComicEasel. Maybe this time I'll write the answer down on a piece of paper like some kind of boomer.

One of the best ways in which this could improve the experience on some of the blogging sites is that it would remove the need to rely on privacy-invading #Disqus or (even worse) #OpenWeb comment systems in favor of native + Fediverse comments.

There's some very good potential here, so I guess the question is: how do we (or rather: who will) take this up with the #ComicPress developers and the authors using its system?

Now, I'm not sure how complete of a package #CompicPress is, but if it ships with specific plugins on by default, this means that if #ComicPress can be convinced to ship with #ActivityPub active and with some sane comic-oriented defaults for the settings, all of these #webcomics could join the #Fediverse simply by updating to the next #ComicPress version. This would be a very powerful gateway to introduce comic artists to the power of the #Fediverse.

I follow several #webcomics, generally getting notification of their updates via #RSS (one of the few #indieweb holdouts despite GAFAM's attempt at its suppression, with Mozilla's complacency and assistance) from their self-hosted websites. I noticed that many of them (spot checks, I haven't collected stats) use #WordPress, and in fact more specifically #ComicPress.

So apparently I can't upload the #comicpress theme to my #wordpress without them wanting me to upgrade to a Business plan which costs a bazillion dollars and I can't afford it. ... 😓

Hey quick question for the #webcomic artists with #wordpress or #comicpress #comiceasel
HOW DO I MAKE THE CHAPTERS GO IN THE CORRECT ORDER IN THE ARCHIVE
I know for SURE the order of chapters is correct, it displays correctly in the drop down menus for page/Ch jumping
but then the Archive shows up and CH2 is CONSTANTLY IN THE WRONG SPACE like...it'll go before CH3, then it's the LAST chapter. I made it into one chapter rather than halves. STILL ISSUES
HELP ME
