OK this is the last #ColorectalCancer post I’ll share today, I promise!

Every year since my cancer surgery, I’ve participated in the “Get Your Rear In Gear” (GYRIG) 5K, which raises money for cancer awareness and to help fund treatments for people who can’t afford it.

It’s a great way to give back.

Edit: forgot the website link!

Welp! It's the last day of March, meaning it's the final day of #ColorectalCancer Awareness Month.

Here are 2 final good resources I recommend everybody read. And remember -- if you are aged 45, PLEASE get a colonoscopy (a screening test for colon cancer). If you have health insurance, the law requires that it be covered!

But although it is still true that the majority of new cancer diagnoses affect the over-70s, the pattern is changing in subtle ways. Some cancers are increasingly found in younger people. Take colorectal (bowel) cancer: while rates have declined in those over 60, data shows a sharp increase in many developed countries among people under 50, in what’s called early-onset disease.
