J’ai lu en avant-première la BD Nous sommes la voix de celles qui n’en ont plus, chez Actes sud BD, qui retrace l’histoire des collages féministes de leur origine en 2019 à l’état du mouvement aujourd’hui. Elle est écrite par Paola Guzzo, d’après l’enquête qu’elle a menée avec Romane Pellen, et illustrée par Cécile Rousset.
Avec honnêteté et laissant la part belle aux témoignages des personnes directement impliquées, cette BD se veut le récit sincère d’une forme de lutte qui a pris une ampleur assez massive. Sans omettre les débats, les scissions, les remises en questions, le récit est passionnant et riche. Je n’ai peut-être qu’un regret à émettre concernant la police d’écriture parfois difficile à lire.

The slogans of the 80s youth movement were known for their tongue-in-cheek, irreverent humour. «WEG MIT DEN ALPEN - FREIE SICHT AUFS MITTELMEER = GET RID OF THE ALPS - FOR A CLEAR VIEW OF THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA» was one well known example. Of course we had no actual plans to "get rid" of the alps. Where would we put them? But this slogan managed to express our discontent with the status quo, our struggle for more freedom.

«WEG MIT DEN ALTEN [WEISSEN MÄNNERN] - FREIE SICHT AUFS FRAUENMEHR = GET RID OF OLD [WHITE MEN] - FOR A CLEAR VIEW ON A WOMEN'S MAJORITY» is a riff on that slogan. It addresses the ongoing anti-feminist backlash (in its full range) and is meant as shout out to the feminist strike that has traditionally been happening on June 14th in Switzerland.

While across the great ocean one much too powerful old white male will celebrate his birthday with a military parade in an effort to build his fascist regime, feminists in Switzerland are going to hit the streets to call for equal rights, bodily autonomy, an end to genocide and fascism, in an intersectional effort of connect forces with other movements – climate justice very much included, seeing as the aforementioned alps have now started to crumble on their own.

J.K. Rowling posted a haunting selfie on her super yacht, smoking a cigar and drink in hand, in celebration of the UK Supreme Court Ruling that defines a woman as someone born biologically female, thereby excluding trans women. In calling it “TERF VE Day” Rowling aligns herself with the rhetoric of fascist politicians but also with the deeply transphobe history of Anti-Trans Movements. In her book Enemy Feminists, author Sophie Lewis lays out not only the history of TERFs but also other troubling currents in feminism, which at times veered into colonialist, racist, pro-police, pro-nazi territory. In order to deepen our anti-fascist, -capitalist, -colonialist, -racist, trans-inclusive, etc. feminism we need to understand these enemy feminisms.

Fascism is on the rise, in the US advancing fast – but it’s happening all over the world. Especially trans people are under immediate threat. The U.S. Departement of Health and Human Services asks people to rat out trans kids and their families. Meanwhile in the UK, the highest court ruled just last week that the legal definition of ‘woman’ excludes trans women. Sadly, transphobia has a history in ‘feminism’ [> must read: «Enemy Feminist» from Sophie Lewis @reproutopia]. Therefore the umbrella term ‘feminism’ always has to be specified as antifascist among many other demands!

We need to speak out and we need to fight fascism, because we can't allow history to repeat itself.

Intersectionality - one of the few terms [for now] that has not been taken over and thrown back at us as an insult. The most vulnerable people are affected by a multitude of discriminations. When a group of so called 'radical feminists' exclude Sex Workers [SWERF] or Transpeople [TERF] it also feels like a takeover of the term: feminism.

Patriarchy is still one of the fundamental structural problems in our societies. It remains the breeding ground for sexist thinking and the blueprint for power from the top down. This collage* is an homage to the famous slogan from more than fifty years ago. During the uprising in May 1968 they wrote the following in the streets of Paris: « Sous les pavés, la plage ! », which translates to: «Under the cobblestones, the beach!». A shout out for freedom and liberation.

With the upcoming Women’s Day on march the eighth, the feeling of rage drives us as we speak out against all ongoing violence and murders/femicides.
