Marvin opened one eye and looked at the day.
“Monday,” he muttered.
He waited for the usual feeling — the rush, the resistance, the sense that something had slipped away overnight.
But it didn’t come.
The light was still there.
Not brighter. Not louder.
Just… there.
He stood, stretched slowly, and padded across the rug into the warm patch of sun.
“Huh,” he said.
“Still works.”
He glanced at the kettle beginning to hum, then back at the light.
“I suppose that’s the point,” he added.
“The best part of a miracle… is that it’s still true when you’re doing the laundry.”
He settled down without another thought.
“Good,” he murmured.
“We’re staying.”

Marvin stepped into the light and stopped.

He didn’t move for a moment.

Then, slowly, he turned in a circle
and settled himself exactly where the warmth was strongest.

“Oh,” he said.

“There you are.”

He glanced once at the candle.
Once at the lily.

Then back at the sunlight.

“Yes,” he murmured.

“This will do.”
