The #NANOG mailing list discussed an outage of #Cogent in #Texas. The company's update: "This is being caused by multiple fiber cuts".

Must be lots of stuff going on, if multiple fiber cuts appeared at the same time. Anyone ideas what could have caused it?

@f2k1de @Lili keine Ahnung, aber soweit ich weiß machen die massives #TrafficShaping und #QoS weil #Telekom hat halt so schlechtes #Peering dass deren de-facto #Upstreams (#Cogent & #Level3) die verklagt hatten.

@qwertyoruiop the fact that #DTAG has a testing server that fast is surprising.

Normally #DeutscheTelekom's core network is so #underpeered that they got sued by #Cogent & #Lumen nee. #Level3 for insufficient capacity and abusing them as #upstream|s.

In return, I'm surprised they only got #10G there. I would've already expected #100G and #OM5 fiber everywhere...

Thanks #Cogent. Thanks for telling us the "testing" which "shouldn't affect our colo service" was actually a planned power outage that your operations people KNEW would bring down all hardware in our racks on a Friday evening.
Oh! And thanks again, for sending out an all clear on Friday night & again on Saturday, then Sunday, while in hour 30 of restoring our entire infrastructure, being told randomly by a contractor the power was going down AGAIN in 15 minutes.
