CLondoner92 (New Account)The #UK has secured a further year of funding for seafarer training through the #Maritime and #Coastguard Agency’s Support for Maritime Training (SMarT) scheme, running until 31 March 2027. Backed by the Department for #Transport, SMarT supports cadets, junior officers and ratings, offering sponsoring companies up to half of eligible training costs. The scheme aims to boost UK maritime skills, encourage recruitment, and provide opportunities for new entrants. MCA Chief Examiner Ajit Jacob said the funding helps ensure a safe, skilled workforce and opens training paths for those who might not otherwise consider a maritime career.

Ecco le immagini del barcone che si è ribaltato nel Mediterraneo. A bordo, secondo il racconto dei 32 superstiti, salvati in area Sar libica dalla guardia costiera italiana, c’erano 110 persone. Ci sarebbero quindi oltre 70 dispersi.
I militari hanno recuperato anche due cadaveri: a bordo dell’imbarcazione, un barcone di 12-15 metri salpato da Tripoli, in Libia, c’erano soprattutto Pakistani, Bengalesi ed Egiziani. I migranti sono rimasti in acqua per diverso tempo prima di essere intercettati e soccorsi. Arrivati al molo Favarolo di Lampedusa, i sopravvissuti hanno raccontato di essere partiti in molti di più.
I primi a intervenire, lanciando zattere di salvataggio, sono stati i mercantili Saavedra Tide e Ievoli Grey, che si trovavano nelle vicinanze. Poi sono arrivati i militari della motovedetta Cp327 della Guardia Costiera.

Here are the images of the boat that capsized in the Mediterranean. On board, according to the account of the 32 survivors, rescued by the Libyan SAR area by the Italian coast guard, there were 110 people. Therefore, there are now over 70 missing.
Military personnel also recovered two corpses: on board the 12-15 meter boat, launched from Tripoli, Libya, there were mainly Pakistanis, Bengalis, and Egyptians. The migrants remained in the water for several hours before being intercepted and rescued. Upon arrival at the Favarolo dock in Lampedusa, the survivors reported that many more had set sail.
The merchant vessels Saavedra Tide and Ievoli Grey, which were in the area, were the first to intervene, launching rescue rafts. Then the military personnel from the Coast Guard Cp327 patrol boat arrived.
