Cronulla Sand Dunes, NSW (What's left of them...)
City to surf, all in one frame.
Caught this view with the Mavic 4 Pro — sand, sea, airport, and the Sydney skyline stitched together like a story only a drone can tell.
Vertical perspective makes you appreciate the scale of it all.

Garden Diary:
Post Autumn Equinox

Now that the heatwaves and extreme humidity have passed, and there’s a bit of rain around, we’ll resume successive plantings of edible greens. Our climate was more tropical than ever this past summer (it’s not supposed to be). Hoping the cooler weather will be kinder to the veggie garden.

Because of the long shadows of big trees, winter food gardening often works best in pots, so plants can be moved around to catch maximum sunlight. We usually see the last of the tiny tomatoes around Winter Solstice, if allowed enough sun.

But we’ve still got tons of herbs, alliums and capsicum galore in the daily harvest. Adds taste and crunch to almost any meal and we’re mad for them. We replant these from their own seeds year-round. Coriander (Cilantro) also grows wild along every path all year.

If planting trees is an act of hope, so is planting food.

Effortlessly at height hangs his still eye.

His wings hold all creation in a weightless quiet
Steady as a hallucination in the streaming air.

Our local Master of the Wind came calling yesterday.
As the smallest of raptors, the kestrel reminds us that:
It is no small thing to live one’s own life.

To further enrich local #Wildlife #Habitat, we managed to drag ourselves away from #Summer frivolities long enough to plant out a few more #Australian #Natives.

On the theme of #Flowers, we’ve adopted our winged friends’ philosophy: there’s no such thing as too much colour!

We live under the flight path of wildlife traveling between native forests in #CoastalNSW. At midsummer, these creatures are all very busy feeding on, pollinating, propagating (through excreting seeds), and regenerating not only the great native forests, but many private gardens.

Why not give your local native birds and wildlife a gift for #2024 by planning now to plant edible native flowers, shrubs and trees wherever you live. Or find a Bush Regeneration group to work with on local public lands.

Before long, #Biodiversity Value will become a measurable contribution to the value of both public and privately owned land, including yours. It’s the beautiful gift you give to yourself, your children’s children, our wildlife, and the planet.
