Destroying Australia's biodiversity

"The decisions of our political leaders, who continue to approve fossil fuel project expansions and widespread land clearing and habitat destruction, are coming home to roost in ever more predictable, catastrophic and emotionally confronting ways. "

"There is a tragic inevitability about what ... bats – and, indeed, countless other species – confront in this “new normal”. If we continue to destroy their habitats, and politicians wave through yet more coal and gas approvals, even more mass mortality events could be a matter of when, not if."

"There was a time when the dire potential consequences of climate change and environmental destruction were warnings, calls from scientists and experts for increased and urgent action. Now an unsettling possibility feels like a disturbing reality...We must change course."

Recovery Assistance Photos Ops Aren't Climate Leadership

It’s the first week of summer (December 2025) and we’re already living the script: dangerous heat, fires ripping through communities, homes destroyed, evacuations, and governments activating disaster assistance. PM Anthony Albanese is already out there posting photos spruiking government support.Yes, recovery support matters. People need immediate help, and they deserve it.But here’s the brutal truth: recovery cheques won't stop the next fire. Prevention will. And that means cutting emissions fa

"Climate change is an existential problem of planetary proportions."

"The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has issued a historic advisory opinion that could reshape the global legal landscape for climate action, declaring that States have binding duties under international law to protect the climate system and that a failure to take appropriate measures may constitute an internationally wrongful act."

"The ICJ also addressed the oceans, affirming that anthropogenic GHG emissions qualify as “pollution of the marine environment” under UNCLOS, triggering obligations for States to “take all measures… necessary to prevent, reduce and control pollution.”

So very very disappointing. It’s not as if they (Labor/Plibersek) aren’t aware there is a carbon budget which we are fast using up. They just don’t fucking care.
A vote for Australian Labor is a vote for new coal and gas.
