Okay, crowdsourcing suggestions of video clips to use for the background video during my dance at Norwescon this year, which has the "First Contact Galactic Gala" theme: First contact scenes in movies/television.

Off the top of my head, some obvious ones:

- Vulcans arriving on Earth in Star Trek: First Contact
- The mirror universe version of that scene from Enterprise
- Many scenes (particularly the end) in Close Encounters of the Third Kind
- The UFO over Mulder in some X-Files episode (and there are probably many other X-Files scenes)
- A few scenes in E.T.

Any suggestions for others? (Bonus points if you can provide episode names or numbers for TV show suggestions.)

Recently I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind on TV (my laptop) and marvelled at the old computer room with banks of tape machines. On reflection I realised it was the first time I'd seen that all the way through.

(Anfragelimits erreicht, überschritten. Lauter Feierabend im Supermarkt des geringsten Misstrauens, Schwindelgefühl, zwei volle Kassen, zwei lange Schlange und heute geht absolut nichts mehr schnell. Vergessene Artikel zu spät bemerkt. Verschiedene böse Worte murmeln und sofort wieder schweigen, erschrocken über sich selbst. Eine Atmosphäre aus durcheinander geführten Diskussionen und Gezänk und dem Duft schlechter Parfums und eine dunkle Wolke schwer greifbaren Unmutes um den eigenen Kopf. Im Falle flinker Sicherungen sollte man zusehen, schnellstens den Heimweg zu finden.)
