The current pool and fountain were constructed in the 1980s. Though #ClintonSquare (and all of downtown #Syracuse) bears deep scars from the #UrbanRenewal movement’s hollowing out of old downtowns and neighboring, historically black neighborhoods in the 1960s and 70s, the plaza today does a remarkable job of evoking the canal's presence, especially in person.
