...on (exceptions possible, OFC.)

Needless to say, as we have seen from disaster reports from #Greece and #Italy, for instance, in recent years, the rate of top-soil #Erosion in the areas hit by such extreme-weather events, is bound to increase exponentially initially. This, in turn--and this is my understanding not being a #Climatologist either--will feed into the #Desertification feedback loop.

In short:
These catastrophic events may not be decades away anymore, but...

N.W.T. winter one of the coldest winters recorded this century, climatologist says
Freezing temperatures in the N.W.T. this winter have made it one of the coldest winters recorded this century, a throwback to winters of old, according to a senior climatologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

What a #Climatologist’s #Defamation Case Victory Means for #Scientists
A jury awarded #MichaelMann more than $1 million—raising hopes for scientists who are attacked politically because of their work
Mann tells Nature that he hopes the win “signals the beginning of the end of the open season on scientists by ideologically motivated bad actors. And maybe, just maybe, that facts and reason still matter even in today’s fraught political economy.”

@rgod8855

I did not doubt that, nor did I see a contradiction of any sort.
Why is the "#ClimateChange" argument oversold?

Yes, the only thing humanity might achieve in the medium term is to slow down the GROWTH RATE of the #ClimateCatastrophe (my personal opinion, based on a veteran #climatologist, @[email protected].

I am exasperated that we are not undergoing mass-building projects (agriculture, water management, housing - see German thread.)

BTW, I am not familiar with "ICE machines"...?

@GreenFire Agree 100%

I'm no #climatologist, but I do have a theory about what's happening to central #TX. The Gulf is overheating and the heat is pushing what would have been hurricane/storms northward. Could be wrong but ... how are y'all doing?

#Siberia swelters in record-breaking temperatures amid its ‘worst heat wave in history’

These remote regions tend to see large monthly and yearly temperature fluctuations, but the last few decades have seen a strong warming trend.

By Laura Paddison, Jun 9, 2023

"Despite only being early June, records are tumbling across parts of Siberia as extreme heat pushes into unusually high latitudes.

"Last Saturday, temperatures reached 37.9 degrees Celsius (100.2 Fahrenheit) in Jalturovosk, its hottest day in history, according to the #climatologist Maximiliano Herrera, who tracks #ExtremeTemperatures across the globe.

"A slew of temperature records have fallen in Siberia since then.

"Several all-time heat records were broken on Wednesday, including in Baevo, which reached 39.6 degrees Celsius (103.3 Fahrenheit), and Barnaul, which hit 38.5 degrees Celsius (101.3 Fahrenheit)."

@vwbusguy While installing weather stations on Baffin Island for a #climatologist I heard the story of researchers who got very sick eating the liver of a Bearded Seal despite warnings from local Inuit. Apparently Vitamin A accumulates in this species' liver and is toxic in high doses.
