Brussels in March passed the 2040 climate target — 90% net reduction versus 1990 levels. Brussels in April agreed to import $750 billion of American oil and gas by 2028. Both facts cannot be true. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive was gutted in December under pressure from ExxonMobil, JPMorgan, and a US Ambassador who called it "economic suicide." Over 400 Inflation Reduction Act grants terminated. The Endangerment Finding dismantled. The US absent from COP30 in Brazil — the first time since 1995 no delegation went. https://twp.ai/9OWdYB calls it the most significant setback for US climate policy to date. The predatory financial machinery learned long ago: you don't repeal climate law. You make the trade terms worse than the law.
