🔌 As Europe works to strengthen #energysecurity on its path to #climateneutrality, #electrifying industrial process heat is a clear opportunity to cut both #emissions and fossil fuel import dependence.
⚡️ With new support schemes being developed – including under the forthcoming Industrial Decarbonisation Bank – an important question persists: how does the carbon intensity of today’s power mix shape the real world impact of #electrification? 1/x
My Comment: Our #future needs education, a global sense of #unity, a focus on important #goals: #climateneutrality, new technologies or space exploration. But in #Germany, as elsewhere, signs point to #nationalism, #xenophobia, #racism. #AfD and other #rightwing activists are the #wrong path. Inter alia, I see negative influences also in some German #duelingfraternities.

(And quite affordable even if you don’t. Especially compared to some other recent UK policy choices one can mention)

Our latest commentary by Benjamin Görlach, Lead EU Climate Economics and Finance, provides a sneak peek into an upcoming Agora paper outlining options to ensure that flexibilities align with the EU’s trajectory to #climateneutrality.
Today, the EU is 37% below 1990 emissions, and with full implementation of measures already in the pipeline, it could reach 54% by 2030 – just one point shy of its legally binding goal. This keeps a chance to reach the next milestone, a 90% reduction by 2040.🌍 2/x
