Chinese scientists have developed a "charge reservoir" material that mimics natural photosynthesis, capturing solar energy to convert \text{CO}_2 and water into vital fuel building blocks.
​This new system produces carbon monoxide at rates 100x higher than previous methods. Crucially, it uses only water as an electron source, eliminating the need for harsh chemical additives.
