The article is full of historical and motivational detail, which is good for those with a taste for that, but left me wishing they didn't bury key points. But here are the ones I picked out that I didn't want to get lost by anyone not clicking in (caps mine for emphasis):

«…a British doctor named Patrick Hart joined a new UK group called Just Stop Oil, which called for “bold action” until the government pledged to stop licensing new fossil fuel projects.

As he talks, Hart returns to variations of the same refrain: The world is ON COURSE FOR CATASTROPHE, and if we continue to rely on fossil fuels, BILLONS OF PEOPLE WILL DIE. “I don’t know how many times I need to say this, but like, we are so fucked.” GETTING MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO CONVEY THIS MESSAGE IS, to him, THE WHOLE POINT.

THEY WANT TO SHOW THEIR FACES, TO EXPLAIN THAT WHAT THEY'RE DOING IS A RATIONAL RESPONSE to the current crisis. WE’RE NOT THE VIOLENT ONES, they say. REAL VIOLENCE IS COMMITTED BY COMPANIES THAT ARE WRECKING OUR PLANET FOR PROFIT. Sabotage must TARGET PROPERTY, NEVER PEOPLE. The environment must not be permanently harmed…»

Should climate liars and those funding them (e.g. fossil fuel executives) end up in the Hague?

As we grapple with the escalating climate crisis, the temptation to lean on technological fixes is understandable. But can we truly engineer our way out of this? It's a complex question that deserves our attention. 🌍 💡 #ClimateCrisis #Geoengineering

In #Iceland, a project called #Mammoth aims to capture CO2 directly from the air, using geothermal energy. This could be a game-changer, yet it only scratches the surface of global emissions. 🇮🇸 🌬️#CarbonCapture #Innovation

Despite the promise of carbon capture, critics argue it distracts from urgent actions like reducing fossil fuel use. Can we afford to focus on costly tech that may not scale in time? 🤔 💰 #ClimateAction #SustainableFuture

Occidental Petroleum's Texas project plans to capture CO2 for oil extraction. This paradox highlights a major issue: Can we depend on the oil industry to lead the fight against climate change? 🛢️ 🚫 #FossilFuels #ClimateChange

Let's not forget, our past "solutions" have led us here. As we consider new climate interventions, it's crucial we weigh the ethical, environmental, and practical implications. The clock is ticking. ⏳ 🌏 #ActNow #ClimateEthics

Can We Engineer Our Way Out of the Climate Crisis?

Blocking solar rays. Sucking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Ideas that sound like science fiction are now starting to become reality, raising concerns about safety.
