Well, this is going to go down well… a centre-right #Labor crafting new #Environment legislation in collaboration with the #RWNJs #ClimateDeniers #FossilFuelPeddlers #Noalition #LNP mob.

TBF we might suspend our utter consternation to consider that a bypartisan approach to the legislation will ensure its survivability on change of govt from one party to the next. But the costs in this case are somewhat horrendous to contemplate. Of the darker considerations, it may just be Labor doing just enough to get re-elected while fanning the flames on the LNP’s internal conflicts whilst rendering it ineffective in winning govt from Labor at the next round. In any case, political machinations at the cost of the environment is a dreadful state of affairs that cannot be condoned. Rabid political animals ought to be retired and responsible adults put in charge.

The whole environment legislative agenda is testimony that the Labor Parliamentary Caucus cares little enough for the environment mandate they were given at the last election (despite the fact that they consitently claim that mandate was instead for strengthening Medicare).

Now about unearthing ‘reponsible adults’ to fix this mess… any volunteers out there? #AusPol

Having suffered a hiccup last week in the upstream bibliographic API foodchain , this week's edition of Skeptical Science #ClimateResearch roundup bodes to be one of the largest yet.

Better late than never! It'll all be out in about 10 hours.

Meanwhile, the current edition is rather skinny, with _only_ 94 articles. It includes an interesting (#OpenAccess!) report on identifying temperature trend bias due to temperature record homogenization. This is a still a favorite hobbyhorse of #ClimateDeniers, but the research team finds no sign of bias due to classic homogenization techniques-- using an entirely different statistical method for comparison.
