You’ve probably seen the CE mark thousands of times.

On phone chargers, toys, kitchen appliances, power tools.

Two tiny letters printed somewhere on the label.

Most people never notice them.

But those letters represent one of the most quietly powerful systems in Europe: a shared framework that helps ensure products sold across the EU are safe to use.

It’s a small symbol with a very big system behind it.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮: 𝗔 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

January 7th marks Constitution Day in Ghana, a day set aside to honor the foundation of our democratic nation. This day celebrates not just a legal document but the collective aspirations, peace, and political stability Ghana has enjoyed under the 1992 Constitution, the bedrock of the Fourth Republic.

However, Constitution Day should be more than a symbolic public holiday. It’s an opportunity for all Ghanaians to engage deeply with the Constitution — understanding their rights and responsibilities, appreciating the rule of law, and reinforcing our commitment to democracy.

This year, with the holiday shifted to Friday, there’s a unique chance for greater public participation through:
- Civic education programs led by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE)
- Community forums and school activities focusing on constitutional literacy
- Media discussions highlighting the importance of peaceful political competition and constitutional reforms

Let’s use Constitution Day to reflect on our journey, renew our dedication to democratic values, and recognize that the Constitution belongs to every Ghanaian—not just lawyers or politicians.

Together, we can transform Constitution Day into a meaningful celebration of Ghana’s democracy and future.
