1) #SuleikaJaouad & #JonBatiste live at #CityArtsAndLectures tonight, talking and making music about her #TheBookofAlchemy release.
2) My spouse was recovered enough to attend.
3) Walkable cities where you can just stroll over to a little event like this. So lucky.

Saw Yuval Noah Harari interviewed by Kara Swisher at City Arts & Lectures in SF this evening. Good stuff, heavy talk about AI and humanity — like, if we’re so great why do we keep trying to kill ourselves off? And of course the seat came with Harari’s new book, Nexus, which I’m excited to crack into.

Been thinking about Stacey Abrams a lot lately. Time to re-listen to her City Arts & Lecture podcast. https://www.cityarts.net/event/stacey-abrams-3/ #StaceyAbrams #KQED #KQEDRadio #CityArtsAndLectures

Matthew Desmond, author of #Poverty by America at #cityartsandlectures tonight. Lots of cheers after lots of eloquent talking points until he made a some guests uncomfortable equating SF NIMBYism with segregationism, and encouraged deregulation of #housing development in SF as a way to tear down walls of segregation rather than keeping them up and throwing money over them in the name of progressivism. I was one of the few audible cheers on that one.

Still digesting last night’s SF City Arts & Lectures event with Werner Herzog. Some of what was covered I’ve read in recent interviews, but much of the evening’s conversation delivered rare insight and perspective from a deeply experienced working writer and filmmaker with a genuine curiosity of existence. Here he was discussing the perception of time and the performative nature of the human experience.

OK, so you know you’ve reached a “certain age”’when you go to see a very well known writer speak …and you and the other audience members are what you’d think of — back in your 20s — as “your parent’s age.” #yikes #IWantToSpeakToTheManager #FML
