C.I would argue circular mils (also used in measuring wire) is even worse than AWG. At least "gauge" measures have a reasonable physical basis - for wire, it's the number of times a given ingot of copper was drawn through a die to make it longer and thinner. That's why the number goes up as the size goes down.
