Lee Sun-kyun previously played Bong Joon-ho's Parasite, which became an overnight hit. In October 2023, he was investigated by the police for suspected drug use and committed suicide two months later. On 23 August 2024, the Busan Film Festival announced that it would posthumously award the Korean Film Award to Lee.
