@demiguru #CimateAction A lengthy answer, I'm afraid. FIrst, we need to recognize that there are things we can only do at an individual level - largely related to personal decisions about what we buy, what we do, how we travel, etc. BUt in many cases our options are constrained by where we live, and decisions made by government at all levels.

Then there are things we cannot do at an individual level, and so require common effort. This can be at the local, state/regional, or federal level.
So how can we overcome the lobbying power of industry and finance? Well, part of that is understanding why they have lobbying power, and then how to counter that power. Ultimately, that means making politicians recognize that if they do not respond to local wants and needs, they will be replaced in the next election. That's something only their constituents can do - and so a big part of local action is reaching those constituents with a vision that they want to support because it is good for them.
