Fixing some wonky markup for tonight's service so I won't have to put up with it in the service and fix it after the fact. Sadly, can't do anything about the very unclear tone markers now without spending the next hour or so frantically retyping and re-marking the lot. Previous Choirbook Maker used tiny red type (the red is nice but the tiny almost illegible in the choir), also making the margins too small to put full-size numbers in. #ChurchChoir #ChurchMusic
lol, from an old Holy Week post: "get it into the sopranosโ€™ stubborn heads that when I tell them not to sing the third above, they should not sing the third above" #ChurchChoir

After tonight's choir practice, I declare it weekend. Well, have to do some work tomorrow: put everything back where it came from, send links to things we practiced, write new Alleluia verses because we've got two different versions and they're both wrong. But anyway, having a real beer and basking in satisfaction. We actually got some really hard things into shape and in the last 5 minutes tackled a new thing that we're now confident enough to sing in the service.

Whee the person I hoped would become my apprentice in choirbook-making has said yes. Soon I'll no longer be the only person in the parish who can do this (which they agree is scary). #ChurchChoir
There was an annoying typo in Psalm 50. Which, it being now Lent and imminently Holy Week, comes in practically every service. I made a new version that also fit on the page better and printed 6 new copies. #ChurchChoir

Whee I've made all the choirbooks until Wednesday (that's 5 books, but one was already in order). Disassembling the books from the first half of this week and putting the stuff from that away so I (or hopefully my apprentice (1), who I put out a call for at the parish meeting) can find it next year was actually much more work. #ChurchChoir

(1) I'm currently the only person in the parish with the relevant skills. Very uncomfortable.

Liveblogging today's work but on my blog (it's a bit too extensive to do it here), will point to it when finished. #ChurchChoir
Today I got the relevant books from upstairs. Tomorrow I'm going to do a Very Difficult Thing (make something for Monday night that we've always done on Wednesday, meaning that I have to find which things are weekday-specific and what to replace them with; with the risk that the things Just Don't Exist and I have to use either something generic or something from another service; both are completely valid ways of doing it). Looking forward to it ๐Ÿ™‚

Took the Palm Sunday book to choir practice because if we don't do it now it'll fall through the cracks. Next Thursday we practice the Annunciation, the 26th we skip choir because we're in church literally every other day of that week, April 2 is the special practice for Holy Week and Easter where some people come who otherwise can't (because work/living far away/stuff). And it was so useful! Caught lots of little things that have bugged me for years. #ChurchChoir
