Jim Bliss5 or 6 years ago I was walking on Dame Street and passed Christy Dignam. Never spoke to him but I smiled and nodded at him in recognition. He flashed a big smile back in my direction. And we passed each other.
Thinking of that moment this morning brought a tear to my eye.

In mid-May 1989 I shouldβve been more focused on revising for the Leaving Cert exams but instead I was heading up to the SFX to see Something Happens and Christy Dignam. Christy was out of Aslan at the time and my memory of this solo gig is that he was a huge, dynamic, natural talent on a stage that was simply too tiny for him.
