Sorry for the late post, y’all.

I took an accidental nap this evening after Emerson and I got back from Barnes and Noble. We did a version of the Icelandic tradition Christmas Book Flood yesterday and it was delightful. I got him a book called Someone To Build a Nest In and he got me a lovely illustrated copy of Frankenstein. After the nap we finally watched the Wrinkle in Time movie. It came out before I was married the first time, and I had always heard it was a flop. I don’t think it was, it was relatively true to the spirit of the book, even if it took some liberties. Chris Pine was delightful in it.

Merry Christmas if you celebrate, as well!

Deep in my first two reads from the Christmas word hoard...

Shelly Bond's Filth & Grammar is astonishingly brilliant, dense with deep editorial wisdom. Invaluable if you're making comics, tbh pretty essential whatever you're writing / drawing.

Robert Palmer's Deep Blues is also pretty wondrous, so far a blend of evocative story telling, musical deep dives and historical context.

Woot! This is my favourite reading time of the year. What are you diving into? #Bookstodon #ChristmasBookFlood

Part of my #ChristmasBookFlood is Christopher Hogwood's biography of Handel. I now feel I need a recording of the Complete Works so I can track Handel's borrowings and reworkings...
