Crescens the Christian Martyr was from Myra of Lycia, born of an illustrious family. Of his own accord he went amidst the idolaters and admonished them to leave off their futile religion and worship the only true God, Who is worshipped by the Christians; for this he was arrested. When asked by the ruler what his name and lineage were, the Saint would answer only that he was a Christian; counseled to offer sacrifice to the idols, he refused. For this, he was hung up and beaten, was scraped, and then was cast into fire, in which he gave up his holy soul into the hands of God, though not even the hair of his head was harmed by the flame. #Crescens #ChristianSaint #ChristianSaints #Christianity

Thy Martyr, O Lord, in his courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since he possessed Thy strength, he cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by his prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.

Adorned with the beauty of Purity, O Virgin; crowned with the stigmata of martyrdom; stained with the blood of your struggles; and brilliantly radiant with healing wonders, piously, O Marina, you received the trophy of victory for your struggles. #Christianity #ChristianSaint #StMarina
I’ve been thinking of the virgin martyr saint Kyriake since yesterday for her feast day. I went to Divine Liturgy at the Greek Orthodox Church and it was a such a beautiful service. I also think of John the Baptist when I think of her because she was also beheaded in the end. I am going to think of her tomorrow as well because she was born on a Sunday which is why her name is kyriaki! I am so thankful to her for her sacrifice and intercessions and she, along with John the Baptist, strengthen my faith in love and truth for Christ our Lord so much #GreekOrthodox #Christianity #OrthodoxChristianity #ChristianOrthodoxy #ChristianSaint
O eterne Deus,
nunc tibi placeat ut in amore illo ardeas,
ut membra illa simus, que fecisti in eodem amore,
cum Filium tuum genuisti in prima aurora
ante omnem creaturam,
et inspice necessitatem hanc que super nos cadit,
et abstrahe eam a nobis propter Filium tuum,
et perduc nos in leticiam salutis.
Amen.

“One evening, at a loss for words to tell Jesus how much I loved Him and how much I wished that He might be everywhere served and glorified, I reflected with pain that not one act of love would ever mount upwards from out of the depths of hell. Then I cried out that willingly would I consent to see myself plunged into that place of torment and blasphemy, in order that He might be loved there eternally. That could not really glorify Him since He desires only our happiness, but love makes one want to say a thousand foolish things. If I spoke thus, it was not that I did not long for heaven; but then, my heaven was none other than Love, and in my fervor I felt that nothing could separate me from the Divine object of my love. . . .”
