Equipo: Canon EOS 400D + Tamron SP 90 mm f/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1

[EN] According to observation.org's NIA, this is Chorthippus apicalis (family Acrididae). I don't know much about grasshoppers, sincerely. I like the white stripes edged in black at the sides of the pronotum and the general green colour of the bug.
Photographed on 2026/04/22 in Cáceres province (Spain) in a grassland which I thought it was a good place to look for orchids, but I only found Serapias lingua.

#Sicklealfalfa #Medicago sativa L.subsp. #falcata is considered a #subspecies of lucerne, but is sometimes also seen as own #species of the M. sativa-#complex. It is native to #Eurasia and prefers deep, lime-rich #soils, here on Mount #Teufelsberg #Berlin with #Chorthippus cf.#mollis. K. Kaljund & V. Jaaska (2010) found a high genetic #diversity even in smaller #isolatedpopulations due to plant's biology, i.a.#autotetraploidy.

The lesser #marshgrasshopper #Chorthippus #albomarginatus is distributed from Scandinavia to Central/Southern #Europe, in #Germany mostly in the North. It prefers pastures/# meadows #habitats and is part of a closely related #speciescomplex (O. v. Helversen & V. Vedenina, 2009) and can eg #hybridize with C. #oschei (V.Vedenina, 2012).

Below a #grasshopper nymph of the #Chorthippus #biguttulus #group, including closely related European #species C. biguttulus, C. brunneus, and C. mollis. They cannot be clearly differed #morphologically, only by their #songs. B. Gottsberger & F. Mayer (2019) studied mechanisms of #speciesboundarystabilization between C. brunneus/C. biguttulus, which can #hybridize. But hybrids exhibit #songpreferences of C. biguttulus females.
