13th Star, het album, is in de catalogus van Fish misschien een van zijn donkerste albums, maar in de beleving ervan is veel schoonheid te vinden. Een balans tussen rock en ballads, deels geworteld in rock, deels open klinkend door hedendaagse invloeden en gebruikmakend van moderne studiotechnieken én met heerlijk geschreven tracks laat het album horen welke koers het werk van Fish zou gaan volgen. Zowel in composities, in zang, in uitvoering, in arrangementen en in productie staat 13th Star, met inmiddels toch ook al aardig wat jaren op de teller, nog steeds als een huis.
