There are moments in which we must pause. It’s not so much a choice as it is a necessary compulsion. We are residing in that space of pause in this very moment, but something about this particular moment is different. We’re restless, feeling anxious to get the ball rolling. It’s almost as if the stillness we so usually seek is for some reason no longer wanted. Such is the experience of being restless.

Restlessness while commonly viewed as negative, facilitates deep healing potential. It reminds us the we are living beings with blood coursing through our veins and air flowing through our lungs. It beckons us to acknowledge that our ultimate purpose resides in our earthly experience. It allows us the freedom to tap back into the rich wisdom of the body. Most notably, I find that it allows us to further examine where our alienation resides. It encourages us to curiously approach areas where we may be feeling extra squishy and tender, to hold these areas with the love they never received. It evokes the sense that true healing comes from within, not without.

Deep knowing. Nurturing the self.

When times are tough, there remains a need to return inwards. This retreat is not as easy as it seems, especially not in the modern world we currently occupy. Even so, you must carve out the time and space to listen closely to your inner guide. You must remember that the knowledge you so often seek cannot be found in books, but it can be found from within.

Deep listening facilitates the rise of our strength and our power. We are more than our work. We are more than what we produce. We are sacred beings that must learn to flow with the tides, with the push to be external and the pull to be internal. Just like the moon waxes and wanes, we too will have moments where the call to remain hidden supersedes the need to be seen.

Allow yourself the privilege of going deeper. Know that your pain is as sacred of a companion as your light.

What does it mean to heal? What does healing entail exactly? If you’re a spiritual person and spend any amount of time online, you’ve surely come across accounts dedicated to selling you the ideal of a perfectly healed self. Truth be told, it should come as no surprise (especially if you’ve been following along for a minute) that I detest this ideal. Healing isn’t about achieving an outcome. It’s an endless process of continually meeting yourself as you move through life. It’s like unravelling a ball of yarn that never ends. It’s frustrating and difficult, but it is nonetheless one of the most fulfilling journeys you will ever get to experience.

In this process of healing, you will find that the best guidance comes in the form of self trust. Listening to your inner voice proves to be incredibly powerful. However, the current alignments are calling us towards something more, something that transcends the borders of the material body. We are being asked to gather with the energy of the collective, the community. Sit with your friends and grow closer to distant acquaintances. Perhaps one day you will find the bravery to carve out a collective space with your fellow humans. Even if you are a solitary practitioner, know that you can always find a circle of belonging with the grounded trees or the whispering wind.

The yearning for more. Nurturing wounds of personal identity.

We are residing in a time when the fate of the world seems to be hanging in the balance. Uncertainty is the major pervasive influence within our current society. Instead of pretending like everything is all fine and dandy, it’s time to put our thinking caps on. How can we come up with innovative solutions to newfound problems? Where might thinking outside of the box get us? The first step towards restructuring the fabric of society requires that we step beyond the limitations of our own cognizance. Instead of generating ideas on our own, we can work together to optimize our collective creative potential. However, when we blend out mental faculties with those of others, we must be careful not to value conformity over unconventionality lest we arrive at dysfunctional outcomes. Allow differences to come alive. Lean into the disharmony, the rebelliousness. Grow a community that goes against the grain.

Remember that throughout this community-building process you will inevitably find yourself being challenged. Relating to others often reveals what we so meticulously seek to suppress within our own selves. In this way, the community and the self do not function as separate entities. They are interwoven and interconnected. The self feeds the collective and the collective seeks to understand the self. Acknowledge whatever wounds may emerge as you unravel from your cocoon. Care for yourself as you care for others. Remember that you cannot be fully present in community when your own soul is hurting.
