While sitting outside to rest my hand, I finally got around to reading @llonkrebboj’s exquisite Li He fic, Neither moths nor the silverfish: https://archiveofourown.org/works/52274104

Please do read it if you want to visit Tang Luoyang and Chang’an, to sit in vividly-imagined scenes that might well have been the seeds for immortal verses, to have your heartstrings plucked for a 24-year-old youth who feels his days are numbered, or to meet a lovely donkey OC.

静夜思

床前明月光,

疑是地上霜。

举头望明月,

低头思故乡。

Thoughts in the Silent Night
- by Li Bai

Moonlight reflects off the front of my bed.

Could it actually be the frost on the ground?

I look up to view the bright moon,

And look down to reminisce about my hometown.

My father (b. 1913 d. 1989) read #ChinesePoetry & I'm sure would have enjoyed the class.

I've asked a better connected & more fluent #Cantonese speaking friend of mine to tell her friends about this article & the #Chinese poetry class to see if she can help to add more as well as younger members to the class to keep it going.

Aboard this boat of rotten wood
gathering fruit of the nimba tree
here we are in the open sea
where the waves never cease
only one-day's food along
shore a billion miles away
what's the cause of our distress
alas it's due to bitterness
