My baby chilli plants are growing well & sprouting little flower buds. Once the tallest plants have got a few sets of flower buds I'll pinch the tops out to encourage the plants to bush out.

Co se může pokazit se pokazí (a co se pokazit nemůže, to se pokazí taky). Ve dvoře firmy chtěli kolegové pěstovat rajčata, tak jsem si vzpomněl na #chilli, vytáhl semínka z lednice a jal se je klíčit. Moc šancí jsem tomu po letech nedával, ale úspěšnost byla překvapivě velká, 28 z 36 (tři různé odrůdy). Naklíčené jsem dal do půdy a dopadlo to jak je vidět na fotce. Do dalšího stadia se dostala přesně JEDNA 😳. Mezitím jde firma do kytek, takže se tam nejspíš nebude pěstovat vůbec nic. Alespoň nemusím řešit, kam ty papriky dám, ale i tak je to zklamání.

Feeling a bit excited about my chillies! 🌶️ Today, I planted them in the community greenhouse and mulched the soil with straw to keep it from drying out.

Fingers crossed I didn’t plant them too early—weather forecast says it'll drop to 9°C the coming nights!

The pale green of these chillies always fascinates me. They're in the habanero family, maybe aji umba. They ripen to yellow or orange. Very tasty, will be going into tonight's goat tehari.

My chilli 'babies' are growing up & some needed repotting. Half of them will be going outside at the end of May while the other half will stay on the window sill as an insurance policy. Having read the RHS guide to growing them I've learnt that they can be overwintered indoors rather than having to start from scratch again next year. This news made me smile no end 🙂
