I cannot get my butt in gear to plan this year's summer program. I am the only person in the entire youth department. I've already missed out on getting the magician I wanted for the kick off (and boy does that not help the vibes of me not wanting to do this)
I am feeling slightly burnt out and attempts to fix this aren't working.
Any tips you might have about how you get started or get excited are welcome.
Also, feel free to join me in the blah state here and commiserate. It all feels so futile right now, but it's my job.
I also don't think my ADHD helps with this problem.
I'm also feeling slightly nostalgic for the way things used to be before all of this. 🙄
How you know that your children’s librarian background is still alive and well: at 3:00 AM when you can’t sleep, finding yourself researching which translation of Pippi Longstocking is the best.

If you work in the children's department at a library or work with kids in a school, you HAVE to buy 'An American Story's coming out in January. I just got to read it and cannot recommend it enough. It brings all the feels but also is so educational and honest. It does not shrink from the hard parts. It is by Kwame Alexander and Dare Coulter.
