Accessing adult content in Ohio gets harder next month. The law goes further than just porn, but anything the state (currently run by a Republican supermajority) deems  "obscene or harmful to juveniles" 17 years old and younger.

Verification would be done by submitting a photo of your state ID or by entering your personal information into a third-party system that will then run your details through other online or government databases — it could also use facial recognition technology, capturing photos of users.

Websites would be penalized, owners subjected to jail, if they don’t comply. Attorney General said he would shut websites down that had any pornography or anything "obscene or harmful to juveniles" on it and didn't have a system that complied with the new law.

The law was passed and signed into law during the 2025 budget process a few months ago
