AI is forcing CIOs to confront a hard truth: you can’t separate innovation from security anymore. Today I participated in the Gartner Chicago CIO Community Town Hall, focused on AI’s Mirror Effect: Security for AI and AI for Security, hosted by NTT DATA. The discussion centered on how CIOs are navigating AI overload while balancing expanding risk, constrained budgets, and rising business expectations.

What stood out:
🤖 CIOs are managing two mandates at once: securing AI systems and responsibly using AI to improve security
🔐 The data and platforms behind AI must be resilient, trusted, and well-governed
📊 Advanced analytics and automation only help when aligned to clear business outcomes
⚖️ “Where to focus” is now the most valuable CIO skill
