“My apologies” “For what?” “For being how I am” The ending of this documentary sums up basically how you are supposed to feel about its subject. It is undeniable that Chevy Chase had a meteoric rise, a crumbling fall, and then a comeback of sorts, all the way having a legion of devoted fans because of Clark Griswold, his Everyman character. It is also undeniable that Chevy Chase treated everyone around him like crap. He’s no John Candy. Still, WATCH IT 3/5

Dick Cavett doesn't get nearly enough credit for being a BRILLIANT straight man. He was so goddamned good that he made the insufferable Chevy Chase look good. I mean, this is just jaw-dropping thespic generosity.

The Chevy Chase documentary really gets details wrong about his time and firing from Community.
It claims that Chevy refused to return to Community without Dan Harmon. In reality Dan was fired at the end of season 3 while Chevy kept going until he got fired during season four.
It also claims that Chevy was angry about some lines Dan wrote for him when he had the outburst that got him fired. Dan simply wasn't there.
Outside the doc I've seen him quoted as having been fired by Dan Harmon. Again, Dan wasn't there and if he had been he never had the power to fire Chevy. NBC and Sony were in charge.
Lastly, Dan Harmon arranged for a, spoiler alert, cameo for Chevy after Dan was rehired for season five.
