🇫🇷 Il y a vingt ans, je passais quelques jours de vacances dans le chalet d'été d'une ami au Danemark, au nord de København. Il y avait une petite ligne de chemin de fer qui passait littéralement dans le fond du jardin (4ème photo). 🙂

🇬🇧 Twenty years ago, I spent some holidays in a friend's summer cottage n Denmark, north of København. There was a small railway line which literally passed at the bottom of the garden (4th photo). 🙂

🇫🇷 Des photos prises le 6 juin dernier dans le cadre des 125 ans de la Brohltalbahn, une vue du convoi à vapeur quittant la gare de Niederzissen pour son terminus quelques kilomètres plus loin à Oberzissen. Depuis Brohl, dans la vallée du Rhin, la ligne s'élève peu à peu pour atteindre son ultime station à Engeln. La différence d'altitude entre les deux points est de 400 mètres pour une longueur de 17,5 km mais il y a une différence de 230 m pour la section Oberzissen - Engeln sur une distance de 5,5 km!

🇬🇧 One of the numerous photos taken on June 6, during the festival for the 125th anniversary of the Brohltalbahn : the steam train is leaving Niederzissen for its final destination, a few kilometers away in Oberzissen. From Brohl, in the valley of the Rhine, the railway has a altitude difference of 400 meters for a length of 17, 5 km but there is a very steep section between Oberzissen and Engeln where the altitude difference is 230 m in 5,5 km!

🇫🇷 Pour ce soir, je poursuis l'exploration de mes archives photos d'il y a tout juste vingt ans. En ce jour de juin 2006, le train désherbeur était présent à Arlon.

Ce train était composé de voitures britanniques Mk 1 et de wagons-citernes spécialement équipés pour cette tâche.

Les deux autres photos montrent du matériel qui n'est plus en service, comme les automotrices doubles qui assuraient l'essentiel des trains omnibus vers Luxembourg et vers Libramont. De plus, aujourd'hui, la ligne est alimentée en 25 kV et non plus en 3 kV.

Pendant de longues années et malgré que la ligne était électrifiée (en 25 kV), les trains vers Virton étaient assurés en autorail diesel faute de matériel adapté à circuler sous les deux deux tensions en service à l'époque. Les trains ne circulaient que toutes les deux heures à l'époque et entre deux trains, ils allaient se ravitailler en gasoil au faisceau.

Sur deux photos, on peut apercevoir l'hôpital d'Arlon qui devrait déménager d'ici quelques années au milieu de nulle part... du côté d'Habay-la-Neuve...

🇬🇧 Tonight, I'm continuing to explore my photo archives from twenty years ago. In that day, back in June 2006, the weed free train was present in Arlon.

This train was formed then of British Mk1 coaching stock and tanker-wagons specially equipped for the task.

The two other photos are showing rolling stock that is no more in service, like the 2-Car EMUs which operated then most of the stopping services to Luxembourg or to Libramont. Today the line is powered with 25 kV current and no longer 3 kV.

During long years, and however the line was electrified (with 25 kV AC), the trains to Virton were operated by diesel multiple units as there was then no suitable rolling stock to operate under both 3 kV DC and 25 kV AC. The trains were also operated only every two hours and between two services, they did go to the yard to get gasoil.

🇫🇷 Souvenirs d'une journée de #trainspotting il y a près de vingt ans à Beetebuerg (Bettembourg) et à Näerzeng (Noertzange) sur la ligne Lëtzebuerg (Luxembourg) - Esch-Uelzecht (Esch-sur-Alzette) - Peteng (Pétange).

Et en cadeau, une leçon de luxembourgeois. 😉

1. Une automotrice Z 2N NG de la SNCF sur un service TER Metrolor en route vers Thionville et Metz (ou Nancy) traverse la gare de Bettembourg.

2. A cette époque, les locomotives diesel GM série 18 (identiques aux HLD 55 de la SNCB/NMBS) assuraient encore de nombreux trains de marchandises. Ici, l'un d'eux au passage à Noertzange.

3. Toujours à Noertzange, une locomotive série 3000 des CFL (identiques aux HLE 13 de la SNCB/NMBS) également en tête d'un train de marchandises. Les 3000 ont disparu en début d'année de la scène ferroviaire et un voyage d'adieu est proposé le 23 juin prochain (Fête nationale).

4. Autre matériel qui a été retiré du service et a entamé une nouvelle carrière en Roumanie, les Z 2000 (quasi identiques aux Z 11500 de la SNCF) dont deux exemplaire ici assurent un train vers Athus en Belgique.

🇬🇧 A few photos of a day #trainspotting almost twenty years ago in Beetebuerg (Bettembourg) and Näerzeng (Noertzange) on the Lëtzebuerg (Luxembourg) - Esch-Uelzecht (Esch-sur-Alzette) - Peteng (Pétange) railway line.

And as a gift, a lesson of Luxembourgish. 😉

1. A SNCF Z 2N NG EMU operating a TER Metrolor service en route to Thionville and Metz (or Nancy) passing without stopping Bettembourg station.

2. At that time, The "GM" Class 18 diesel locomotives (identical to SNCB/NMBS HLD 55) still operated many freight trains. Here, one of them passing through Noertzange.

3. Also in Noertzange, a CFL Class 3000 electric locomotive (identical to SNCB/NMBS HLE 13) also at the head of a freight train. The Class 3000 disappeared from the railway scene at the start of the year and a farewell trip is proposed on June 23 (National Day).

4. Other equipment which was withdrawn from service and began a new career in Romania, the Z 2000 EMUs (almost identical to the SNCF Z 11500), with here two units forming a train to Athus in Belgium.

🇫🇷 Pour ce #traintrackTuesday une vue depuis le pont qui passe au-dessus des voies de la ligne principale Koblenz - Bonn - Köln par la rive gauche. La voie à gauche, est la voie de la Brohltalbahn qui permet d'accéder au terrain se trouvant tout à droite de l'image et de là au port établi le long du Rhin. La société Brohltalbahn assure un transport de marchandises sur les lignes à voie normale.

The track on the left is the track enabling the Brohltalbahn to gain access to the site on the far right of the photo and from there to the harbour along the river. The company Brohltalbahn operates freight trains on standard gauge tracks.
