Such an encouraging day. Hundreds of smiling adults and children, perhaps more, riding their bikes to a local street fair, using a recently completed segregated cycle path. Amongst the bikes making the trip were two penny farthings.

Local cycling clubs and bike shops supported the event with marshalling, signage and mechanical support. Thank you to

Entries are now open for this year's Hell of the North Cotswolds, otherwise known as the HoNC. The event takes place on 6th September.

About the HoNC:

'This endurance cycling event, a British classic, is now in its 41st year. It was originally inspired by the famous Paris-Roubaix event in France and could be argued is the original gravel event in the UK.

The event is organised and promoted by Winchcombe Cycling Club and Cheltenham and County Cycling Club.'

Important update: South of England Cyclo-Cross Championships - 23rd November ‼️

From the organisers:

Due to unforeseen construction work commencing on the designated car parking land at Moredon Sports Centre, we have been forced to relocate the event.

Unfortunately, with the parking area now unavailable and no suitable alternative options in the vicinity, the event would have had to be cancelled entirely.

After an urgent meeting, the committee has made the decision to move the race to Pittville Park, Cheltenham, GL50 4RN this Sunday. This change allows us to proceed with the event, avoiding a complete cancellation.

My cycling club is promoting an open hill climb tomorrow, starting at 10.00. It's on Bushcombe Lane, a rather unpleasant bit of road that definitely heads upwards. It is on the edge of Woodmancote, near Bishop's Cleeve on the outskirts of #Cheltenham in #Gloucestershire.

Thankfully for all of us it's too late to enter, but if you're in the area, it'll be good fun to watch and cheer on the competitors. I hear there is carefully selected playlist.

From 6pm, test your skills on the course for fun. At 7pm, a timed 'hot lap'. How quickly you can you ride the course?
